[ WHO / WHAT / WHY ]

LucidChat is a small IRC network that has, against all odds, kept its lights on. It started as a private server for friends who missed IRC after the great migration to Slack and Discord, and it slowly opened up as more people wandered by.

The design philosophy is boring on purpose:

• plain text over plain sockets
• one server, one config file, one ircd
• no metrics dashboard, no growth chart, no roadmap
• if it works, don't touch it

ircd     : Solanum / Charybdis-family
os       : Debian stable (of course)
services : Atheme (NickServ + ChanServ + friends)
web      : nginx + these very html files
uptime   : long enough to feel smug about

Thanks to everyone who ever ran an IRC daemon on a spare box in a closet, and to the RFC authors of RFC 1459 for a protocol simple enough to survive four decades.
